PROTOTYPE TESTING · DAYTONA, FLORIDA

Every production motorcycle begins long before it reaches a showroom.

Thousands of hours of testing, development, and refinement happen behind the scenes. Every ride helps uncover new opportunities to improve.

Inside Line is our behind-the-scenes series documenting that journey, from prototype testing and engineering decisions to the conversations that shape every Bonnell motorcycle before production.

For Episode 2, we travelled to Daytona, Florida, where another round of testing brought together experienced riders, valuable feedback, and another important step forward for the Bonnell 805 RX and 902 RE.

EPISODE 2 · DAYTONA TESTING

FINDING THE EDGE.

Prototype testing isn't about proving a motorcycle is finished. It's about discovering where it can become even better.

Over several days in Daytona, riders including Josh Hill, Ryan Sipes, Trevor Stewart, Jason Boroski, Tom Parsons, and Jay Dalton pushed both prototypes through a wide variety of terrain and riding conditions. Every rider approached the bikes differently, evaluating everything from chassis balance and suspension feel to power delivery, braking performance, and confidence in technical terrain.

No two riders delivered identical feedback. That's exactly what makes this stage of development so valuable.

A WIDE VARIETY OF TERRAIN AND RIDING CONDITIONS

"Different riders expose different opportunities. The goal isn't unanimous feedback. It's understanding where we can continue improving."

EVERY LAP TEACHES.

The best prototype sessions don't end when the riding stops.

They continue in the paddock, where riders compare notes, engineers ask questions, and every observation becomes another piece of the puzzle.

Sometimes it's a suspension setting. Sometimes it's throttle response. Sometimes it's a small ergonomic adjustment that changes the way the motorcycle feels beneath the rider.

Those conversations feed directly back into development, helping shape the next iteration of both the 805 RX and 902 RE.

THE SESSIONS CONTINUE IN THE PADDOCK

"Josh's initiative in taking the bikes to the edge and subsequently providing thoughtful, experienced feedback proved invaluable. For the team, it served as a clear indication that we are precisely where we need to be."

FROM THE ONES WHO KNOW.

Experience matters.

The riders joining us in Daytona have spent decades racing, coaching, testing, and developing motorcycles across every kind of terrain imaginable.

That depth of experience allows them to identify details many riders would never notice. Those details often lead to the biggest improvements.

It's one of the reasons prototype testing remains such an important part of how we build Bonnell motorcycles.

WHERE WE STAND.

Every prototype session moves us closer to production.

The motorcycles continue to evolve with every round of testing, and each refinement builds on the last. While the 805 RX and 902 RE are already delivering an incredibly capable riding experience, development doesn't stop until we're confident every system works together exactly as intended.

That's the standard we've set from day one. It's what continues to guide every decision.

WHAT'S NEXT.

Most riders only ever experience the finished product.

Inside Line is our opportunity to share everything that happens before that moment. The testing. The conversations. The setbacks. The breakthroughs. The people helping shape every decision along the way.

If you enjoyed this behind-the-scenes look, you can also explore our earlier feature, Daytona Test Week, for a broader look at the development program and what we learned during our time in Florida.

As development continues, so will Inside Line.
